Our Story


Vocabulary Boutique is a locally owned and operated business. Opened by Cecelia Church in 2009, Vocabulary is going on its seventh year of helping San Diegans and visitors alike articulate their personal style. We have trained stylists eager to create the perfect look with you. At Vocabulary, our mission is to spread joy. We love to do this by creating a fun and supportive environment in which you shop our playful chic collection.  We offer an array of apparel, housewares and accessories, making us your local lifestyle resource! We pride ourselves in supporting local artisans.  By doing so, we bring to you the best San Diego has to offer. Come on by. We'd love to meet you, and help you articulate your style!

TAHANY HUERTA, stylist

Tahany is a second year college student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design. She is working as a stylist, assistant, and web designer at Vocabulary. She has a passion for creating the perfect look for clients! Tahany is aspiring to work as a costume designer, as well as start her own line of clothing. She believes that style is part of everyday life, and her goal is to assist customers find their own personal path in fashion.

CECELIA CHURCH, owner

Cecelia has been styling in San Diego for ten years beginning her career styling costumes and props for the theater, then interiors and wardrobes.  She realized her true passion was for styling individuals (a dream of hers as a child), she decided to open vocabulary boutique, where she thoroughly enjoys building relationships and helping her customers both explore and articulate their personal style with a sense of joy and self confidence.

ASHLEY LOPEZ, stylist

Ashley is an amazing stylist, who is also a local San Diego Fashion Blogger, and can be found at Arrayofstyle.com. She previously worked at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Ave. as a sales associate. With a Bachelors of Science in Fashion Merchandising, she has made her passion for creating outside the box looks her career. Her strong skill set has allowed her to experience a broad spectrum of the Fashion Industry.
